- In basketball, teams are made during the season; individual players are made in the offseason.
- Don’t come to the gym counting how many shots you take.
- Count how many you make.
- Don’t end on a miss.
- Stay on balance and use your legs when you’re tired.
Shots Starting at Blocks
•Block-to-Block, moving progressively outward along baseline•Turn-arounds in the post (work on going over both shoulders)
•Hook shots in the paint coming from the blocks (work both hands)
Shots Starting at 3-Point Line Wing
•45º-to-45º Bank Shots, back and forth one side to the next•Back-and-Forth runners into the lane
Start at about 45º 3-point line, dribble from right w/ left hand into lane,
-running shot
-dribble from left with right hand into lane, running shot
-may add high-arc shot as an option
•Back-and-Forth runners outside for bank shot
-start at 3-point 45º, dribble right w/ right hand for a bank-shot jumper
-opposite side for left
•Back-and-Forth Wing pull-up jumpers
•Back-and-Forth Wing three pointers
•Back-and-Forth Baseline three pointers
Back-and-Forth Step-Back shots (dribble in, step back to a shooting position, shoot on balance)
Shots Starting at Elbows
•Back-and-Forth Elbow-to-Elbow (no bank)
Shots Starting at Top of the Key
•Foul-line Pull up jumpers from elbows--start at top of key (go back and forth at an angle)
-one dribble right, pull-up
-one dribble left, pull-up
•Spinners
-go right one dribble, reverse pivot dribble left, pull-up jumper in middle of lane
-go left one dribble, reverse pivot dribble right
