Trevon Lewis scored 22 points to lead Ellender to a 57-43 victory against Hahnville in the Allstate Sugar Bowl CYO Classic.
Joe Wheaton and Kardero Dixon each scored 10 to add to the Patriots' offense. Dylan Parfait contributed six points in a crucial stretch.
"We are an experienced team, and I challenged our team to respond like they were capable of doing," said Ellender Coach Scott Gauthreaux.
Parfait keyed a rally late in the third quarter for the Patriots (6-1) by scoring on two 3-pointers. A layup with 30 seconds left gave Ellender its first lead of the game, 35-34. The run sparked a 22-2 burst that continued late into the contest.
Hahnville (4-1) took control early in the game by shooting 50 percent from the field and outrebounding Ellender 13-10. The Patriots found it difficult to manufacture any type of offensive threat. Twice in the first half, they went four minutes in between baskets. In the first quarter alone, they made just 28 percent of their shots.
Jauries Thomas led the Tigers with 20, and Warren Lebeauf added 12.
