Class 2A 2nd Round Preview and Predictions

In what is one of the most talented classes in the state, the 2A playoffs only had one major upset of 24 seed Lakeview over 9 seed Anacoco. This second round will definitley be one of the better ones to watch in the state as top seed Riverside will host 16 seed Port Barre. Another game to watch that has upset potential is 12 seed Dunham traveling to Evangel. Dunham is a team that at the start of the season was predicted to be a top 4 see but due to injuries and the toughest district in 2A, Dunham lost more games than expected. Keep a close eye on this game. Another game to watch will be 14 seed Newman traveling to Red River. Red River is a very talented and athletic team where as Newman will look to make several passes and take the best shot available. If red River can get Newman in a fast paced game, look for Red River to roll but Newman has a very talented sophomore in Joel Pinchon that could be a big factor. There are three more games to really keep a eye on as well. The first is 6 seed Mamou hosting 11 seed Episcpal. Mamou features one of the states best scorers in Zack Baty who is putting up 30+ on the season where as EHS counters with the nation's best freshman, Brian Bridgewater who is 6'5". Look for this game to be very close. The next game is a battle of district rivals in Pointe Coupee Central and Donaldsonville, D'ville is the district champ and P.C.C is the runner-up. The two teams have split on the year with both winning on the road. Look out for DJ Cobb of PCC and Lorenzo Collins of D'ville. In the final game to watch features Jonesboro-Hodge at St. Thomas Aquinas. JHHS features 6'7" TJ Williams facing off with AAU teammate Zay Jackson of STA. STA on paper should win this game easily but if JHHS can pound the ball in to the big man, an upset may happen.

Class 2A 2nd Round Predictions:

1. Riverside over 16. Port Barre
8. Springfield over 24. Lakeview
