At Bourg, the Gators got 28 points from Joe Thompson and 10 points from Tyler Breaux in moving to 1-0 with the nondistrict victory. South Terrebonne led 15-9 after the first quarter, 34-15 at halftime and 44-17 at the end of the third quarter. Michael Ray added eight points for the Gators, and Trevon Smith scored seven points.
PONCHATOULA 69, CENTRAL LAFOURCHE 59 (BOYS)
At Ponchatoula, Reandell Poindexter scored 26 points and Terrell Folse added 17 points in the Trojans’ season opening nondistrict loss to the Green Wave. Ponchatoula led 20-12 after the first quarter, 35-24 at halftime and 49-42 at the end of the third quarter.
ASSUMPTION 84, VANDEBILT CATHOLIC 67 (BOYS)
At Houma, the Mustangs outscored the Terriers, 28-12, in the fourth quarter to roll away with a season opening nondistrict win. Assumption led 18-13 after the first quarter, 38-29 at halftime and 56-55 at the end of the third quarter. Leading scorers for Assumption (1-0) were Theron Ester (21 points), Andreaus Sargent (13 points) and Trae Bias (12 points). Leading scorers for Vandebilt (0-1) were Beau Smith (27 points), Trevor Williams (16 points) and Lionheart Leslie (11 points).
