By Peter Silas PasquaEast Ascension limited St. Michael to just six points in the third quarter to blow open an 11-point halftime lead on way to a 66-43 season opening victory Monday night at EAHS’ gym. The Spartans’ reserves continued the onslaught taking their biggest, 29 points, with 1:50 left to play.
“I thought they had a decent start to the second half and then we caught our second wind and played real well,” East Ascension head coach Kenny Almond said. “We got to work on holding the ball when they were doubling and got through without getting anybody hurt so it was a good game.
“We played a good system. They are a little young and have to come around but we are going to play a lot quicker athletes than they have down the road.”
