Lafayette Area: Lafayette High blows past NISH

SCOTT -- Anwar Francis had 18 points as Lafayette High blew past New Iberia 63-35 in the Acadiana Tournament Monday. Montrelle Taylor also had 18 for the Lions, who jumped out to a 20-6 first quarter lead and kept up the pressure the rest of the way. Josh Charles had 13 points and Kemory Deal added 10 points for the Jackets. NISH plays Acadiana today at 5 p.m.

Iota 36, Catholic High 32

LAFAYETTE -- Johnny Guidry scored 10 points as Iota rallied from a first quarter deficit to beat Catholic High 36-31 in the Teurlings Tournament Monday. The Bulldogs, who trailed 11-8 at the end of the first quarter, held CHS to only two second quarter points in taking the win. Derek Gaspard led the Panthers with a game-high 19 points in the loss.

Catholic High plays Kaplan today at 7:30 p.m.

Port Barre 73, Assembly Christian 39

Gerald Rideaux had 25 and Reginald Hunt added 12 as Port Barre blew past Assembly Christian 73-39 Monday in a non-district game. The Red Devils led 18-12 at the end of the first quarter but outscored ACS 55-27 the rest of the way for the win. Gunnar Robicheaux led the Lions with 22 points while Josh Russo added eight in the loss.

Assembly Christian travels to Jehovah-Jirah in Baton Rouge today.

St. Martinville 66, Crowley 50

BREAUX BRIDGE -- Atrail Skipper had 15 points and led three other Tigers in double-figures as St. Martinville beat Crowley 66-50 Monday in the Breaux Bridge Tournament. Trey Anthony had 15 and Terrence Lindon and Deion Narcisse each had 11 for SMSH, which led 35-18 at halftime and cruised to the win. Michael Harmon led Crowley with 16 while Jerrell Andrus and Therion Beverly each had 15 for the Gents.

St. Martinville plays Wossman today at 7 p.m.

ESA 64, Hanson 38

BROUSSARD -- Nick Jinda had 16 points as ESA beat Hanson 64-38 in the Ascension Episcopal Tournament Monday. J.J. Jacquet added 13 and Buie Brown had 10 for the Falcons, who outscored Hanson 23-6 in the final period to seal the win. Brandon Leblanc led Hanson with seven points.

ESA battles Opelousas Catholic today at 6 p.m. while Hanson plays Northside Christian at 3 p.m.

Loreauville 61, Delcambre 51

BROUSSARD -- Joseph Dressel had 19 points as Loreauville beat Delcambre 61-51 in the Ascension Episcopal Tournament Monday. John Reed had 19 and Nick Julien added 10 for the Tigers, who outscored DHS 25-10 in the second quarter to pull ahead and kept the lead the rest of the game. Carl Taylor had 23 and Lance Linden had 17 for Delcambre.

Loreauville plays Ascension Episcopal Blue Gators at 7:30 p.m. and Delcambre plays Ascension Christian at 4:30 p.m.
