Bastrop outscored Ouachita Christian 21-4 in the third quarter on its way to a 52-34 season-opening victory here Tuesday night.

Leading 21-12 at intermission, the Rams broke the game open with a 10-0 spurt early in the third quarter.

Donald Washington set up Jessie Akins on the backdoor cut and converted a steal into a transition layup to start the run.

On the Rams’ next possession, Trey Baldwin connected on an open baseline jumper off the dish from Tobias Haynes.

Washington then scored on a three-on-none break and stole the inbounds pass for another easy bucket to put the Rams in command 33-14 at 5:02 in the third quarter.
