Plain Dealing 36, Summerfield 33

Yondarious Johnson’s drive to the basket and late free throws helped the Lions sneak past the Rebels at Summerfield. With the score tied in the fourth period, Plain Dealing’s LaCharlie Scott put the Lions ahead when he scored and was fouled. Summerfield would not wilt, however, and got a 3-pointer from Donte Fielding to tie it. After a Plain Dealing miss, Demarcus Ridley’s basket gave the Rebels the lead with time running down. Johnson then drove to the basket and was fouled, hitting the free throw to give the Lions the lead. He then iced it with a pair of foul shots in the final seconds. Johnson finished with 13 points to help Plain Dealing improve to 4-0. Tevin Malone scored 18 to lead Summerfield.
Stanley 69, Castor 68
At Stanley, Onesio Thomas continued his outstanding play in the young season, scoring 28 points as the Panthers held off the Tigers in the second half to win a thriller. Raynard Blount chipped in 17 points and Terence Phillips added 15 for Stanley in the victory. Dimitir Smith dropped in 24 points to lead Castor, while Tyler Warren scored 17 for the Tigers.
BOYS
Green Oaks 56, Loyola 50
Trevor Mitchell scored 18 points and Adgie Johnson had 12 as the Giants edged the Flyers. Timmaria Thomas added 10 points for Green Oaks, while Justin Harris dropped in 12 and Josh Bates had 11 for Loyola.
Woodlawn 61, Springhill 49
The Knights exploded out of the half, outscoring the Lumberjacks 19-9 in the third period to blow open a close game and ease past Springhill. Antionne Jones had 19 points, and MarDarious Frazier and Rico Germany added 13 each in defeat for the Lumberjacks.

BOYS
North DeSoto 64, St. Mary’s 60
The Griffins stormed back from a seven-point deficit with three minutes to play to down the Tigers and advance to the championship game today against Anacoco. North DeSoto stumbled early, falling down by as much as 12 points, before their furious comeback. Leron Barnes led the way for the Griffins, pouring in a game-high 28 points to help his team improve to 3-1 on the season. Dennis Graham also had 19 points for North DeSoto. Derion Porchia scored 15 points to lead St. Mary’s, while Clifford Walker added 11 and James Bennett had 10 for the Tigers.
Calvary 70, Winnfield 69
Ron Richardson erupted for a game-high 37 points, including three 3-pointers, as the Cavaliers held on to beat the scrappy Tigers. Tim Thompson added 10 points for Calvary as they improved to 2-1 for the season.
Captain Shreve 76, Mansfield 74
Austin Alexander dropped in 29 points as the Gators rallied from a fourth-period deficit to defeat the Wolverines. Damarcus Davis scored 13 points and Chris Bowman added 12 as Captain Shreve improved to 2-4. Brandon Campbell led Mansfield’s scoring attack with 22 points.
EAST ST. JOHN 86, SOUTHWOOD 66
The Wildcats broke open a close game with 51 second-half points to defeat the Cowboys. Jeff Latin and Dean Johns paced Southwood with 16 points apiece while Mike Davis added 11 for the Cowboys.
