After a a fairly easy win over Scotlandville on Wednesday night and a tough win over rival Istouma by 9 on Thursday night it was time for a showdown with an old rival that will be renewed with the new re-districtricting and classification numbers in. On saturday night Glen Oaks on took on Host Woodlawn for the championship of the annual Woodlawn Shootout. In a game that has been getting a lot of attention in Baton Rouge in the previous months, Glen Oaks proved all rumore to be just that, at least on saturday night anyways. Due to WHS getting several transefers from Lee High and one from Christian Life in Craig McFerrin, along with senior leaders Braylon Lazare and Eric Vidrine back, this was supposed to be the team to challenge Istrouma and GOHS for the district title. After taking a halftime lead of 32-28 over the WHS, Glen Oaks went on to step on the throat of the Purple Panthers to prove which Panthers rule in district 7-4A as on this night it was the Glen Oaks Panthers that proved to be better. as they took home the Championship with a 63-47 win.
In other action Demarcus Veal led Plaquemine with 16 points and the win over Helen Cox of Harvey to win the consolation championship. For the 3rd place game it was 15 point's from Steven Jackson and Roy Knox each to lead the Istrouma Indians over Broadmoor 56-38.
Glen Oaks Tre Drye in action during the summer
Glen Oaks' Brian Willams, and Oklahoma State signee led Glen Oaks all weekend to capture the MVP of the tourney but only with help from guards Andre Scott and Brandon Johnson. Along with Tre Drye who captured all-tourney honors as well.
