Battle of Nationally Ranked Teams Highlight Ballin' on the Red Day 2!!

Riverside Academy Coach Timmy Byrd will lead his team tonight
against Christian Life in the Semi-Finals at the Ballin' on the Red
Pictured Below vs. Christian Life last season on opening night.

Well last night was a night of easy victories for Bossier, Christian Life and Riverside, but now is when the action heats up. Bossier easily dominated 3A Richwood who were without 12 players due to football including one of their top players Marceis Davis. The only score I received last night was Bossier over Richwood 82-54. Jalan West led Bossier with 20 and LaDon Carter had 23 for Richwood. The next two games finished late so there were no reports from the host last night, hopefully we will receive that today for tomorrow.

Now, on with the matchups for today, Richwood will play Loyola at 5:00.(who recieved a bye but since guaranteed 3 games they will play Richwood in a game just make sure everybody gets 3 games).  Game 2 is Vandebilt Catholic vs Airline at 6:30 for the second of the consolation games. The nightcap features Christian Life, ranked 77th nationally vs. Riverside who is ranked 96 in the first semi-final contest. The two nationally ranked teams has a lot of bragging rights on the table. Last season Christian Life swept all 3 games against Timmy Byrd's squad when they were at Reserve and the year before that they beat the same team to end the season. CLA has won 4 straight against this group and look to make it 5. The biggest key to this matchup will be coaching. Todd Foster left CLA for a head coaching spot at Baton Rouge C.C. and was replaced by former Plainview head coach Carlo Maggio. On paper, CLA and Riverside are equal in the talent department but the matchup will be the coaches. Timmy Byrd has won a ton of state titles in his years coaching and this season could be no different. Not only has he won, he knows how to win and can coach in close games. Will this be a classic battle where coaching decided the game or will the stars Langston Galloway, McCall Tomeny and Patrick Robinson lead CLA to victory over Ricardo Gathers, Cedric Jenkins and Kyle McClue of Riverside? We will see tonight, it should be classic. Gametime for this match up is 8:00 at LSU-S.

The final game tonight will be Bossier vs. Loyola in the second semi-final. Bossier is coming off a huge win over defending 3A state champ Richwood. Jalan West had a team high 20 points and Jordan James also contributed 11 points and tons of assist including a few alley-oop passes late in the game. Another player to watch will be the inside presence of Darmaneiya Francis of Bossier who I have been told added a lot of muscle since last year. Freshman Zack Bramburg will look to lead Loyola to an upset win.
